Fellow firearms owners, traders, shooting enthusiasts and 2A defenders:

Please heed the following alert and take action on HB89 - the most
significant reform in Georgia's firearms laws in 20 years and now just a
signature away from passage - or a veto away from the trashcan.

Do not just sit on your duff and expect others to do all the work defending
your rights. And, do not excuse your inaction by assuming your cannot make a
difference.

A phone call takes 10 seconds. A fax takes 2 minutes. A handwritten letter
takes 2 minutes and a stamp.

"Dear Governor Perdue:

Please sign HB89 now.

Thank you,
xx"

ACTION NEEDED - CONTACT THE GOVERNOR (LAST CHANCE TO HAVE AN IMPACT)
The pressure on the Governor to veto HB89 is increasing from the Restaurant
Industry and anti-gun politicians. He's heard from the anti-gun
anti-liberty forces, now he needs to hear from us again. In the next three
days, contact Governor Perdue with a simple message: Sign HB89. His
contact information is:

We need to demonstrate to the Governor that Georgia wants HB89. We can do
it!!!!

Senator John Douglas Fighting For Our Rights

Senator John Douglas continues to fight hard for our gun rights and passage
of HB89. He has written an excellent letter to the Governor and it is a
must-read. The letter is posted on the GCO website at:

GeorgiaCarry.Org and gun owners in Georgia are very fortunate to have
Senator John Douglas as our friend.

Ed Stone, GCO President, Fires Back

Ed Stone, GCO President, has also sent Governor Perdue a letter addressing
the blatant misrepresentations made by the anti-gun organizations. His
letter can be read here:

Mayor Shirley Franklin, a Bloomberg Acolyte

Mayor Shirley Franklin, along with NY Mayor Bloomberg, is one of the 15
founders of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the group suing several Georgia gun
dealers in an effort to bankrupt them through legal extortion.

Protection of Georgia's firearms industry is an absolute requirement if we
are to enjoy our right to keep and bear arms. Without the ability to buy
and use firearms, the right to keep and bear arms is meaningless. That is
why GeorgiaCarry.Org plans to work with the business community to protect
these businesses from Mayor Bloomberg's Gucci clad thugs. The first step
toward increasing the protection for Georgia's firearms industry is Section
2 of HB89:

  16-11-113.

Any person who attempts to solicit, persuade, encourage, or entice any
dealer to transfer or otherwise convey a firearm other than to the actual
buyer, as well as any other person who willfully and intentionally aids or
abets such person, shall be guilty of a felony. This Code section shall not
apply to a federal law enforcement officer or a peace officer, as defined in
Code Section 16-1-3, in the performance of his or her official duties or
other person under such officer´s direct supervision."

VCDL's National Park/Wildlife Initiative Effort and HB89

Do you want another reason to contact to the Governor's office?

The Department of the Interior has now published a proposed rule change for
the National Park Service The proposed rule change is as follows for
National Parks (12 parks are in Georgia):

"A person may possess, carry, and transport concealed, loaded, and operable
firearms within a national park area in the same manner, and to the same
extent, that a person may lawfully possess, carry, and transport concealed,
loaded and operable firearms in any state park, or any similar unit of state
land, in the state in which the federal park, or that portion thereof, is
located, provided that such possession, carrying and transporting otherwise
complies with applicable federal and state law."

The proposed rule change is as follows for National Wildlife Refuges (9
refuges are in Georgia)

"A person may possess, carry, and transport concealed, loaded, and operable
firearms within a national wildlife refuge in the same manner, and to the
same extent, that a person may lawfully possess, carry, and transport
concealed, loaded and operable firearms in any state wildlife refuge, or any
similar unit of state land, in the state in which the national wildlife
refuge, or that portion thereof, is located, provided that such possession,
carrying and transporting otherwise complies with applicable federal and
state law."

If these new rules are enacted and HB89 passes, we will be able to carry in
National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges as well.

GeorgiaCarry.Org's attorneys will review and comment on these rule changes,
along with working with our compatriots at VCDL.
